Jim Murren is the Executive Chairman of the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA).
In 1983, he graduated from Trinity College in Hartford with a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Urban Studies. In January 2002, he co-founded the Nevada Cancer Institute.
From 2008 to March 2020, Murren served as the Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. During this period, he also headed the American Gaming Association (AGA) from 2014 to 2017 and was involved in the construction projects for the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In March 2020, he left MGM Resorts to lead the Nevada State COVID-19 Response Relief and Recovery Task Force.
Since December 2020, Murren has been a co-founder of the investment company Acies Investments. During the same period, he joined the leadership of Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group as Co-Chairman.
From May 2023, he held the position of CEO at The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, and in September 2023, he was appointed Executive Chairman of the GCGRA to establish the regulatory framework for the gaming sector in the UAE. Since December 2024, he also heads the Board of Directors of Resorts World Las Vegas.
