Fred Done is the Chairman of Betfred.
In 1967, along with his brother Peter, he founded the bookmaking company Done Bookmakers, opening their first betting shop in Salford. By the mid-1980s, the network had expanded to 70 offices.
In March 1998, Done became the first bookmaker to issue early payouts to bettors who had wagered on Manchester United to win the Premier League. In 2004, the company was rebranded as Betfred and launched its digital platform. In 2013, under Done's leadership, the internal broadcasting channel Betfred TV was launched. In 2017, he became the majority shareholder of the sports media outlet Thesportsman.
Fred Done served as the CEO of Betfred from its inception until 2021. In 2021, he stepped down from the role and transitioned to the position of Chairman. Currently, the Betfred network includes more than 1,600 betting shops in the UK and operates in international markets, including the USA and South Africa.
